Senior Mechanical Engineer | Government, Education & Institutional building projects

Client:

Job Description:

Immediate need for a Senior-level Mechanical Engineer with proven interest in building design and sound knowledge of mechanical and HVAC engineering fundamentals. Main responsibilities involve designing heating, ventilating, air-conditioning, and related mechanical equipment for building design in the DC office.

Responsibilities:

Design all mechanical equipment for building design including and particularly HVAC – heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning, systems and equipment.
Perform all necessary calculations to support mechanical design.
Prepare Construction Documents including drawings, specifications, and reports for buildings (in government, education, historic and institutional market sectors)
Work closely with the client and other design team members, including owners, architects, contractors, and members of other disciplines.
Participate in the selection and specification of appropriate equipment for use in building systems.
Coordinate work with engineers of other disciplines and architects.

Job Requirements:

8 to 15 years of professional experience in designing mechanical systems for commercial/institutional/government building projects.
Strong Revit or AutoCAD capabilities.
EIT or PE license desired but not required; desire to obtain a license; LEED Accreditation desirable.
Previous mechanical/HVAC design experience with an AE and/or MEP engineering consulting firm.
Strong fundamental understanding of national, international, and local Building Codes.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
Ability to multi-task with multiple projects in order to meet strict deadlines.
Excellent communication skills with an ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible way

Education:

Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering – PE desired but not required
