    Automation Controls Engineer - Lexington, United States - Schneider Electric

    Description
    As an Automation and Control Engineer, a typical day for you might include the following


    NOTE:
    The work shchedule will be; 20-hours covering Saturday and Sunday) and the rest of the 20-hours can be flexed throughout the week days.

    Controls/Technical support for weekend/week Shift production including fabrication, metal finishing, and assembly, through troubleshooting and determining root causes for downtime events.

    Production barrier identification and elimination for various levels of automation including stamping presses, welders, conveyors, automated assembly, and robotics.

    Update, modify, and continuously improve existing controls systems including robotics, ladder logic programs, relay logic, electrical distribution, motor controls, operator interface, pneumatic/hydraulic distribution.

    Design and develop new machine controls including robotic, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic and vision systems.

    Coordinate with production and maintenance on existing machine control modifications or installationsCreate, maintain, and keep current all documentation:
    electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics; panel layouts; PLC, operator display, operator interface, and robot programs.
    Implement and maintain data collection system for shop floor production equipment.

    Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, engineering technology or a related field3 years' experience in a manufacturing environment as an automated and controls engineerExperience with Electrical, Pneumatic, and Hydraulic SystemsProject Management ExperiencePossess knowledge of all the major Digital Acumen like IoT, Database, Analytics, etc.

    Strong in using and configuring software systems.


    Example:
    configuration and operation of LDS and its deploymentAbility to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
    Preferred skillsExperience with implementing industrial controls.

    Proficiency in safety engineering with exposure to electrical safety Strong PLC programming skillsElectrical/Mechanical CAD ExperienceMotion Control ExperienceRobot programming ExperienceMachine Vision ExperienceAbility to perform root cause analysis and develop action plans to strategically eliminate barriers.

    Ability to prepare, read and interpret written reports, instructions, procedures, and guidelines.
    Ability to identify waste and drive it out of complex processes.
    Strong organizational skills including but not limited to the ability to manage multiple demands and assignments simultaneously.
    Initiative-taking and driven individual desiring to make an immediate impact.
    Have strong change management skills and experience with leading and influencing people.
