Description

The Food Safety Specialist/Internal Auditor is responsible for conducting internal/in-house audits and inspections along with supporting the successful Quality and Compliance management operations at Berner Food & Beverage. This individual will work cross-functionally with other departments address drive improvements and ensure effective corrective and preventive actions are implemented.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Conducts and leads all comprehensive internal audits within Berner Food & Beverage that comply with all internal, regulatory, and customer requirements as well as accepted food safety standards.

· Ensures all compliance auditing and supporting documentation is up to date and meets compliance standards.

· Work collaboratively with other departments to develop, implement, and review corrective action plans resulting from audit findings.

· Assist, support, and provide suggestions to the Quality Compliance Team and work in collaboration with the Quality Compliance Specialist for all CAPAs. Will provide various suggestions and action plans in this assistance.

· Ensure all audit compliance, regulations, standards, and best practices along with maintaining detailed and accurate records of all audit activities and findings.

· Supports and assists in all audits conducted within Berner Food & Beverage.

· Ensure audit preparedness with proactive and preventive strategies that will be communicated, with supporting training, to all other departments of Berner Food & Beverage.

· Support the internal Environmental Monitoring Program, including collecting samples and coordinating the swabbing schedule.

· Monitor, verify, and document Environmental corrective actions.

· Participate and assist in the facilitation of all regulatory compliance inspections, and investigations (based on findings – both internal and external audits)

· Support additional food safety activities as required.

Education, Training, & Experience:

· Associate and/or bachelor's degree in food science, microbiology, chemistry, or a related scientific field or equivalent experience in food safety, quality, and/or regulatory compliance roles.

· Experience and understanding of food safety regulations, standards, and principles as they relate to Berners' customers (HCAAP, GFSI, FSMA).

· Strong Analytical and critical thinking skills to identify food safety risks and develop effective solutions.

· Certification as a Certified Food Safety Auditor (e.g. GFSI, SQF, BRC) is preferred.

· Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and interface with cross-functional groups.
