    Job PurposeThe QA coordinator performs clerical and administrative functions such as drafting correspondence, review and preparation of material certifications, organizing and maintaining paper and electronic files, or providing information to internal and external customers, inspectors and the QA department.

    • HS Diploma or GED, prefer associate's or bachelor's degree;
    • Previous training or ability to be trained on practical application of quality tools including SPC, FMEA, Process Mapping, Control Plans, M-1003 or has / is Greenbelt Certified / Trained;
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn company enterprise software.

    Key Job Elements
    • Utilizes software and databases to research and prepare quality assurance reports to support the department;
    • Uses computers for various applications, such as database management or word processing;
    • Manages paper or electronic filing systems, recording information, updating paperwork, or maintaining documents, such as inspection and quality documentation, correspondence, or other material;
    • Provides information to supervisors, co-workers, and customers by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person;
    • Responds to internal and external quality issues including ownership of corrective and preventative action procedures;
    • Ensures the adequacy of all inspection and test equipment including calibration programs;
    • Develops and conducts quality training for production employees.

    Qualifications and Experience
    • Minimum 3 years of experience as supervisor or lead in Quality in a manufacturing environment preferable but not limited to railroad or related industries;
    • Experience in auditing and equipment inspection preferred;
    • Experience with manufacturing and production processes and principles;
    • Requires working knowledge and expertise in areas including machining, welding, assembly, mechanical devices.

    • Must be able to lift 40 lbs;
    • Motion
    • The position is primarily in an office setting requiring behind a desk the majority of the day utilizing a variety of office equipment such as computers, scanners, copies etc.

  • Vision/Hearing Requirements
    • May spend long periods of time in front of computer screen.
    Will need to be able to read detailed billing statements and be detailed oriented;
  • Work Environment
    • Will spend the majority of time in office environment, although exposed occasionally to plant facilities requiring exposure to hot and cold environments along with noise exposure;
    • Emotional Demands
    • Must have good communications skills.
    Be capable to multi-task and work independently. Ability to adapt to frequent changes in tasks and workload;
  • Safety
    • The position will require the adherence to all safety practices and use of PPE while in a manufacturing facility to include eye, face, hand and hearing protection, steel toed boots, no jewelry and hard hats.
    This is not a safety sensitive position.
