- Ability to read and interpret contract documents and construction plans to prepare estimates.
- Ability to understand project scope and create estimate pertaining to the scope and specifications.
- Ability to perform quantity take offs from drawings and other technical documents.
- Ability to understand construction process ad break down a construction task to understand material and labor involved.
- Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Special clothing/equipment (wearing): may be required to wear PPE - steel toed shoes, safety glasses and vest when entering construction sites
- Work is primarily indoors in an office setting - 70%
- Inspections and surveys are outside - 30%

- Work hours are normally 8 hours per day and 5 days per week, Monday-Friday
- Engineering or Architectural related Bachelor's Degree.

- Tier III (Advanced) Air Force Certified Cost Estimator certification from the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT)

Jacobs is seeking an Engineering Cost Estimator/Planner to support the Civil Engineering Operations program at MacDill Air Force Base
Program Mission:
The Department of the Air Force 6th Contracting Squadron at MacDill Air Force Base, FL has a continuing requirement for base civil engineering services
This includes base operations support, engineering, management, maintenance and repair of facilities and infrastructure systems, construction management, minor construction, emergency management and response, environmental requirements and programs, real property management; material procurement and management, Civil Engineer (CE) deployment training and management and exercise support
Primary Responsibilities:
Estimates costs for construction projects, manufacturing of engineering products, or other projects or services request to aid management in bidding on or determining a price of product or service
Determines type of materials or equipment requirements; utilizes knowledge of products to be manufactured, services to be performed, or type of structure to be built, using blueprints and specifications
