    Job Requirements

    Minimum Education
    • High School graduate or equivalent.
    Minimum Licenses and Certifications
    • EKG certification or experience doing cardiac testing is preferred
    • Curent BLS certification required.
    Required Skills
    • Basic computer skills.
    • Moderate written and verbal skills.
    • Ability to use cardiology equipment.
    Functional Demands

    Physical Requirements

    Exerts 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Frequently reaches (extending hands and arms in any direction), and handles (seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or working with hands). Occasionally stoop (bending the body downward and forward by bending the spine at the waist), crouches (bending the body downward and forward by bending legs and spine).

    Essential Functions
    • Greeting and checking in patients. Reviewing the testing orders and printing schedules
    • Reminder calls to the patients as needed
    • Clerical work copying, filing, faxing and scanning tests
    • Systematically gathers and evaluates relevant information and data from the patient interview and/or from patient information sources.
    • Assures that the patient exams, tests and/or procedures are consistent with the nature of patient's needs and orders.
    • Identifies variations from expected findings and/or test values.
    • Takes appropriate actions when variations are identified.
    • Plans for and provides patient teachings.
    • Identifies situations when it is appropriate to involve the family and/or significant other and/or friends in patient's education.
    • Prioritizes requests based on the nature of request and the condition and/or situation of the patients.
    • Assesses and reassesses the patient's condition.
    • Coordinates and communicates with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient service and care.
    • When appropriate, delegates to other healthcare professionals.
    • Works together to complete assignments with departmental and healthcare team members.
    • Places electrode in correct positions to obtain a quality EKG recording and inputs patient demographic information into the machine.
    • Performs non-routine EKG's, such as fifteen and eighteen lead, and EKG's with magnets.
    • Inputs patient demographic information into machine.
    • Reports abnormal patterns to physician or nurse.
    • Attaches electrodes in correct position to maximize quality tracing.
    • Instructs patients in the use of recorder and diary.
    • Correctly sets up monitor.
    • Prints two copies of EKG's, (one marked as preliminary and the second for interpretation).
    • Copies reports and directs them to ordering physicians.
    • Files report per department procedure.
    • Operates equipment per department policy and manufacturer's recommendations.
    • Reports malfunctioning equipment to the Clinical Engineer.
    • Effectively troubleshoots problems.
    • Performing routine EKG's, applying and downloading holter monitors.
    • Assisting the providers with stress testing.
    • Setting up Echocardiogram patients as needed and taking blood pressures.
    • Checking in the Cardiology testing patients.
    • Copying, scanning and filing of the tests.
    • Editing and downloading the EKGs from the machines
    • Cleaning equipment after each use.
