    Description

    House of Sorcery is a quickly growing art & design studio, developing and producing commercial projects for a variety of clients across many industries. We have an opportunity on our small, multi-disciplinary creative team for a Production Designer. This role is suited to a curious, self-driven, collaborative & experienced individual with an eye for detail.

    The Production Designer has an active role across many projects & throughout each phase; concept design, design development and production. They focus primarily on technical aspects, samples and the lead up to production, bridging the design-build gap between Design development & Production/installation. This role supports projects by anticipating design-related technical needs for instruction, details, samples and the build, helping assess feasibility, concept proof and the way we get there as a team. They will weigh in on budget, resources, timeline and client responsibilities.

    This person is organized, proactive, communicative, and detail oriented. They often get their hands dirty in the studio, assisting with samples and helping the studio see the design through to execution. They balance multiple project requests at a time, each in different project phases, and therefore must be very organized, proficient in our tools/systems, and very communicative. This person has a creative curiosity, is adaptable to change and is excited to help evolve this growing company. The Production Designer will work directly under the Executive Creative Director.

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Production design for House of Sorcery projects, working closely with PM & Production team for each project with technical aspects
    • Help bring the art/vision to life by forecasting, managing and owning the production design
    • Create a clear, organized system for sourcing & purchasing as needed for projects that is visible to the team
    • Work closely with the production team on any/all samples, support with any production design needs that arise
    • Develop and manage a materials library
    • Learn and embrace the HOS brand, adapting to style, technique, and finish expectations
    • Integrate with the Production team to learn their processes, needs and create dialog for feedback and collaboration
    • Independently self-manage using team tools, proactive communication, and workback timelines to meet deadlines
    • Work closely with ECD for project expectations and direction
    • Work closely with PM team on project details, timeline and deliverables.
    • Develop understanding of scale of need on sketches through technical drawings, getting clarification on needs per project
    • Come prepared to all internal design meetings with feedback, solutions, opportunities and questions as needed
    • Create assets as needed for project and client deliverables such as sketches, mockups, mood boards, team collaborative boards, and production files
    • Plan for advance communication and schedule feedback meetings in order to meet deadlines
    • Proficiently build tech packs for the more technical projects
    • Embrace that we rarely do the same thing twice
    • Be nimble and flexible
    • Create clean, production ready files
    • Constantly seek feedback and accept constructive criticism as a part of the process for dialing in the creative
    • Manage & store of assets on the drive, keeping them organized and up to date with the most recent versions
    • Occasional in-studio work on art
    • Maintain a positive attitude with a cool head in busy times
    • Embrace our small but nimble team and the important role each person plays in our success

    Job Requirements

    • BFA, BA, or BS degree in Design, or equivalent combo of work experience and education
    • 2+ years as a 3D designer in a creative department
    • Experience in an agency environment with agency processes
    • Proficiency in project management/ communication software
    • CAD experience
    • Software Proficiency in; Adobe Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), CAD software (Autocad, Rhino, Autodesk) and GSuite tools (slides, sheets, docs)
    • Experience working with dimensional materials such as wood & metal
    • Strong technical design experience with a proven ability to create thoughtful, thorough and accurate tech packs
    • Strong verbal, visual and written communication
    • A base level of Illustration and ability to turn ideas into sketches
    • Adept at reading architectural drawings and plans
    • Experience with and/or has worked adjacent with wayfinding and environmental design
    • Eye for detail and accuracy for all technical plans

    Status Full Time Employee

    Pay 67k-70k, TBD (Depends on experience)
