    Welder/Fitter Shift: 6:30am-3pm

    Welder/Fitter Pay: $18.00-$22.00 (Based on Experience)

    Welder/Fitter Summary

    Joins one metal surface to another in a metallic bond by either pressure welding or by joining surfaces by melting the first surface, additional molten metal is added as a filler and the bond is allowed to cool. The welder will perform a variety of duties.

    Welder/Fitter Responsibilities
    • Chooses correct welding tip and rod for each application
    • Places and moves blocking, braces, and jigs to hold parts
    • Aligns parts and joins by either the MIG, TIG, or ARC welding method
    • Keeps weld to a minimum by using skill in the joining process
    • Corrects flaws in castings or parts
    • Fills cracks or imperfections to strengthen metal objects
    • Performs safety checks on welding machine prior to use
    • Cleans work area, machines, tools, and equipment
    • Performs any other related duties as requested by a supervisor
    Welder/Fitter Qualifications
    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Certificate of Welding School or equivalent training
    • Ability to read blueprint or shop print to Weld to specification
    • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
