    Position Overview

    We are seeking an experienced Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist to support and drive safety, health, and environmental compliance within a heavy manufacturing environment. This role partners closely with operations, maintenance, and leadership to ensure regulatory compliance, reduce risk, and foster a strong, proactive safety culture across the facility.

    The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in industrial or heavy manufacturing settings and is comfortable working on the plant floor while influencing safety performance at all organizational levels.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Support and administer the facility's EHS programs to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and state/local regulations
    • Conduct routine safety audits, risk assessments, and job hazard analyses (JHAs)
    • Investigate workplace incidents, near misses, and injuries; identify root causes and implement corrective actions
    • Lead and support safety training programs, including onboarding, toolbox talks, and regulatory training
    • Maintain required EHS documentation, records, and reports (injury logs, permits, inspections, SDS, etc.)
    • Partner with operations and maintenance teams to identify hazards and implement practical, effective solutions
    • Support environmental programs including waste management, spill response, air/water compliance, and permit requirements
    • Participate in regulatory inspections and serve as a point of contact for regulatory agencies as needed
    • Promote continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen safety culture and reduce incidents
    • Assist with emergency response planning and drills

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
    • 3+ years of EHS experience in a heavy manufacturing, industrial, foundry, steel, mining, or similar environment
    • Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and general environmental compliance requirements
    • Experience conducting incident investigations and implementing corrective actions
    • Ability to work effectively on the shop floor in an active, industrial environment
    • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence hourly and salaried employees
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and EHS reporting systems
