Description
The Department of Pediatrics at Tulane University in conjunction with the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Children's Hospital in New Orleans seeks a physician with expertise in cellular therapies including stem cell transplantation (SCT).
The physician will help continue the expansion of the Cellular Therapies Program. Candidates with at least five years of experience in the field will be favored. Leadership skills and vision for growth of the program are important.In addition to the care of patients undergoing SCT and other cellular therapies, the physician will also see children with high-risk leukemia, immunodeficiencies, and other conditions that may lead to SCT.
The Department of Pediatrics at Tulane is committed to providing excellence in education, clinical care, and research.The selected candidate will become actively involved in all aspects of teaching including training medical students, residents, and Pediatric Hematology/Oncology fellows.
Oversight of clinical trials at Children's Hospital as well as the implementation of new trials, membership in smaller sub-specialty organizations, and dissemination of knowledge through presentations and publications are other expectations.
Children's Hospital is home to the Departments of Pediatrics of both Louisiana State University (LSU) New Orleans and Tulane University.
Children's Hospital is a 222-bed, not-for-profit Pediatric medical center offering a complete range of healthcare services for children from birth to 21 years.

As a Tulane University employee, the new faculty member will receive a negotiable salary commensurate with experience, and a fully comprehensive benefits package.
Academic appointment will be at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor determined by the candidate's experience and scholarly achievements.
Exceptionally qualified candidates will be considered for the Marcelle Schaefer Vegara Chair in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.
Qualified applicants must be board certified/eligible in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology and be licensed to practice medicine in Louisiana by the start date.
Successful candidates will have outstanding patient care skills, a strong desire to share their knowledge with students and residents and participate in advancing the quality of care at Children's Hospital.
