    Inpatient Coder

    Hours: Full-Time/40 hours

    Position Summary:

    The Inpatient Coder is responsible for reviewing the electronic inpatient records for clinical documentation to determine and assign the proper and most accurate medical codes for diagnosis and procedures performed. Ensures the Health System is accurately billing and obtaining proper payment for services rendered.

    Minimum Requirements:
    • Must possess or be able to obtain one of the following: American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or, Certified Professional Coder-Hospital (CPC-H) or American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) Registered health information technician (RHIT), or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Certified Coding specialists(CCS) or Certified Coding Specialist-Physician based (CCS-P) designation. Able to obtain indicates: completed coursework in accredited medical coding courses.
    • Knowledge and experience with ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    Preferred Qualifications:
    • 1-2 year's experience coding inpatient hospital admissions
    • Knowledge and experience with proper DRG/APR assignments
    • Prior experience using EPIC
