Job Title: Chinese Tutor/Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented student to serve as a tutor and assistant in the Asian Studies department.

About the Position:

• This is a part-time, non-exempt position that requires working on campus with faculty members in the Chinese program.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Work closely with given faculty members in the Chinese program to assist with teaching, research, and college-related service.
2. Prepare and staff tutoring sessions for students enrolled in Chinese courses 111 to 360.
3. Assist faculty members in reviewing homework and correcting quizzes.
4. Participate in Chinese related activities and events.
5. Assist faculty members in preparing course materials or carrying out projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Chinese, Asian Studies, or related field (in progress).
• Native or near-native fluency in Mandarin Chinese.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with minimal supervision.
• Punctuality and strong time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Chinese or Asian Studies majors.
• Previous experience as a tutor or assistant in a language program.

Estimated Salary:

$15.00 per hour.
