    The City of Brentwood seeks a dedicated team player to join its Parks team as a Maintenance Technician.

    As the Maintenance Technician you will be responsible for mowing and trimming landscaped areas, performing landscaping tasks, installing and repairing park structures and equipment, performing minor construction of park facilities, and cleaning work space and equipment.

    The Brentwood Parks and Recreation department is responsible for the maintenance and operation of the City's "state of the art" parks and greenways totaling 1,027 acres located throughout Brentwood.

    The grounds and facilities provide for opportunities to enjoy social, cultural, athletic and/or nature-oriented activities.

    The City of Brentwood, located in scenic Williamson County, is considered one of the most desirable suburban locations in Tennessee.

    The city is known for its beautiful parks and greenways, abundant recreational activities, and high standard of living. It sits just south of Nashville and has a population of approximately 46,000 residents.

    As a member of the Parks and Recreation team you will play a vital role in helping take care of the Brentwood community.

    Duties and Responsibilities Performs landscaping and maintenance for City parks.
    Services and repairs as needed to construct and maintain park facilities.
    Provides manual labor functions like digging holes/trenches, removing trees.
    Operates and maintains equipment and machinery used in park facilities maintenance.

    Minimum Training and Experience RequiredHigh school diploma (or GED) required, with one to two years of experience involving park maintenance, landscaping, groundskeeping (or related); or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

    Requires a valid Driver's License and may require a Commercial Driver's License. May require a license in Commercial Pesticide Application.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    Must be physically able to operate a variety of machines, tools, and equipment which includes a heavy motor vehicle, mower, edger, chain saw, hand tools, carpentry tools, mechanic tools, lawn tools, janitorial tools, etc.

    Must be able to use body members to work, move or carry objects or materials.

    Must be able to exert in excess of one hundred pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of fifty pounds of force frequently.

    Physical demand requirements are at levels of those for very heavy work.

    Must have the ability to use one hand for twisting or turning motion while coordinating other hand with different activities.

    INTERPERSONAL TEMPERAMENT:
    Requires the ability to deal with people (i.e. staff, supervisors, general public, and officials) beyond giving and receiving instructions such as in interpreting departmental policies and procedures.

    Must be adaptable to performing under minimal stress when confronted with an emergency related to the job of Maintenance Technician.
