    This posting creates a pool of candidates for future positions that may become available.

    JOB SUMMARY

    The Coordinator: Magnet Program Site provides instructional leadership for the Magnet Program at the assigned school, communicates with school and county administrators regarding program components and expectations. The coordinator works collaboratively to ensure implementation fidelity of the Magnet program, including additional evening, night, and weekend work duties in accordance with the TAAAC negotiated agreement.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Collaborate with administrative liaison and magnet counselor(s) to ensure students are scheduled in classes meeting Magnet Program requirements.
    • Maintain open communication with parents on student academic success, attendance, job shadowing, special events, family nights, and other related areas.
    • Stay updated on new teaching/learning trends within the magnet area of study and develop teacher capacity by leading teacher in-service and providing ongoing professional development and instructional supports.
    • Participate in recruitment activities to foster interest and application to the program from diverse populations.
    • Facilitate collaborative planning within the department focusing on state-approved curriculum, assessments, and data analysis to improve student learning.
    • Coordinate with administration and ASP office to develop department goals consistent with the Magnet plan and county goals.
    • Monitor and observe the implementation of the school improvement plan and make recommendations aligned with meeting the needs of all students.
    • Organize job shadowing/field trip activities and prepare for scheduled family nights.
    • Maintain data and documentation on multiple aspects of the magnet program.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following qualifications.

    Education

    • Bachelor's Degree in education from a regionally accredited college or university is required.

    Experience

    • Three years successful classroom teaching experience is required.

    • Demonstrated ability to effectively work and communicate with diverse populations.
    • Ability to create a team with internal and external stakeholders promoting high expectations for all students.
    • Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
    • Experience working in a highly collaborative environment requiring teamwork, creative problem-solving, diplomacy, collegiality, and self-motivation.
    • Demonstrated proficiency with business technology applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).

    Licenses and Certifications

    • Hold or be eligible for Educator Certification: Advanced Professional Certificate (APC) issued by Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) preferred.
    • Hold or be eligible for Educator Certification: Standard Professional Certificate I (SPC I) issued by Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) required.
    • Hold or be eligible for Driver's License (DL) Class C Non-Commercial issued by Maryland or State of Legal Residence (MVA/DMV) required; and daily access to reliable transportation.
