    The Music Program at Morehead State is part of the Department of Music, Theatre, and Dance. Our music degree options include a Bachelor of Arts in Music, Bachelor of Arts in Music – Commercial Music Studies, Bachelor of Arts in Music – Traditional Music, Bachelor of Music Education Teacher Certification (P-12), Bachelor of Music Performance, a Music minor, Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies, and a Traditional Music minor. We offer a Master of Music with concentration in music education (including Kodály) and performance; options include music education concentration and music performance concentration. Morehead State University's Music program is accredited through the National Association of Schools of Music.

    Morehead State University Bands offers opportunities for music majors and non-majors to perform in three large ensembles, including the Marching Band, Symphony Band, and Concert Band, and Basketball Pep Band.     RESPONSIBILITIES: The candidate will provide studio instruction in trumpet to undergraduate and graduate music majors and minors, lead the Trumpet Ensemble, and direct the Concert Band. Other duties and teaching may be assigned according to program needs and the experience and expertise of the successful candidate. The candidate should have a demonstrated record of collaboration with school music programs and/or public-school teaching experience. The ideal candidate is an excellent and innovative teacher and performer who is committed to pursuing an active performance/creative/research and service agenda at the local, regional, and national levels.

    REQUIREMENTS: Doctorate in trumpet performance required. ABD with imminent completion will be considered. Demonstrated expertise in trumpet in performance, including classical and jazz/commercial music. Demonstrated experience in trumpet teaching, including classical and jazz/commercial music at the collegiate and pre-college levels. The ability to collaborate effectively with the Director of Bands to maintain and adhere to a budget, and to assist in administrative aspects of large ensemble festivals and events. Excellent verbal and written communication and computer skills. Demonstrated ability to recruit for and grow music programs. Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others. The ideal candidate is an exceptional performer and music educator who has demonstrated an active creative/research and service agenda at the local, state/regional, and/or national levels.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: A strong record of experience and as a band director at the College and/or High School level. Teaching experience in a higher education environment.
