Location: Phoenix, Arizona

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
The perfect fit for this role needs to be a strong catalyst for change within the site, capable of influencing managers and employees to take necessary actions. Effective communication of EHS risks, assisting leaders in prioritizing these risks based on legal requirements and business objectives is essential. Collaboration with management and legal counsel to tackle regulatory compliance and liability matters is a key aspect.
Experience:
- A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in environmental, health, and safety, focusing primarily on safety is mandatory. At least 5 years working as a safety professional in a manufacturing environment is required, with preference for aerospace experience.
Primary Accountabilities:
- Coach site operations leaders to instill a culture of safety excellence by implementing safety leadership systems, policies, procedures, campaigns, and programs aimed at enhancing employee safety behaviors and mitigating hazards. Drive incident prevention strategies, assess their efficacy, and educate site personnel to enhance their skills and competencies.
- Oversee the review, update, implementation, integration, and ongoing compliance of the Corporate Environmental Health and Safety Management System and any additional local EHS procedures necessary for effective management of the site's EHS responsibilities.
- Ensure adherence to relevant local EHS legal and regulatory requirements as well as any company-specific standards that go beyond regulatory mandates.
- Act as the technical expert and lead the implementation of corporate EHS software systems to support compliance activities, track/report EHS performance metrics, and manage the action management process.
- Coordinate, conduct, and/or provide guidance on training, including crafting training materials (if needed) to ensure employees possess the knowledge and skills required to work safely, promoting facility compliance with company policies and regulatory mandates.
- Lead investigations of all high actual/potential incidents, facilitate root cause/corrective action with key individuals on-site, and report findings following the Incident Management Process.
- Provide assistance for medical and industrial hygiene programs. Collaborate closely with Human Resources and Operations teams on pre-employment fitness for duty and return-to-work program assessments.
- Manage the site's environmental program, covering permits, waste management as per Environmental Aspects and Impacts register requirements, SPCC/Emergency response, regulatory reports, inspections, etc.
- Collaborate closely with the Corporate Risk Manager, Safety & Health Lead, and external insurance firms to proactively identify and address loss prevention issues and implement recommendations from site assessments. Also, partner with Corporate Engineering and site operations to ensure EHS considerations are adequately factored into capital projects' design and execution.
Supervise EHS consultants and contractors engaged for EHS services like industrial hygiene testing, fit testing, ventilation systems design/testing, sample collection, etc. Ensure consultants adhere to regulatory and company guidelines, analyze and interpret data/reports, and provide recommendations.
