    Job Title: Adjunct Faculty Member

    Summary:

    We are seeking an experienced and qualified adjunct faculty member to teach in the Great Lakes Culinary Institute at Northwestern Michigan College. The successful candidate will have a strong background in culinary arts, excellent teaching skills, and the ability to work effectively with students.

    Responsibilities:

    • Teaching Responsibilities:
      • Develop and teach courses in the culinary arts program, including baking, pastry arts, and food service management.
      • Evaluate student performance and provide feedback to students.
      • Maintain accurate records of student progress and grades.
    • Faculty Professional Development:
      • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay current in the field of culinary arts.
    • Supervisory Responsibilities:
      • Supervise students in the kitchen and bakery labs, ensuring their safety and well-being.
      • Oversee the preparation and presentation of food in the bakery labs.
    • Adjunct Faculty General Responsibilities:
      • Attend and participate in faculty meetings and professional development activities.
      • Report grades and maintain accurate student records.
      • Meet classes during scheduled times and for the appropriate length.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in culinary arts or related field.
    • 2-5 years of experience in the culinary industry, including supervisory and fiscal responsibilities.
    • Current ServSafe Certificate - Food Manager level.
    • American Culinary Federation certification or certifiable.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Master's degree in culinary arts or related field.
    • 3 years of relevant teaching experience.

    The work environment is fast-paced and dynamic, with a focus on providing high-quality education and training in the culinary arts. The successful candidate must be able to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly with students, colleagues, and administrators.

    Additional Information:

    This position is hired through a third-party staffing agency, EduStaff. If selected, you will be required to complete the onboarding requirements of both NMC and EduStaff.
