    Description

    SUMMARY: Responsible for administration of ocean freight transportation to support activities of International Forest Products Export business.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    1. Obtain transportation rates and services to support trading activities
      Coordinate the daily activities of a supplier base that best delivers freight services to all IFP offices
    2. Ensure service contracts and spot rates are consistent with rated Bill of Lading and approve all freight related invoices
    3. Work with Sales admin personnel to resolve any operational issues or requests related to any shipments (e.g. resolving free time issues etc. and any other responsibilities outlined in specific incoterms)
    4. Run weekly Booking activity report and review with Sales admin. Compare booking activity with order book to ensure all orders have freight services to meet order deadlines
    5. Conduct cost reconciliations on freight related invoices
    6. Maintain rate matrix and service contracts of transportation providers. Ensure spot rates are included. Review with carrier base on frequent basis to determine opportunities and validate rate levels
    7. Conduct weekly communication with key carriers and other logistics service providers to determine market intelligence that benefits IFP
    8. Review service offerings on major trade lanes and determine if alternatives/better options exist.
    9. Provide Sales group key information on freight related topics that assist in their economic decision making (e.g. shipment mode, routing/port options)
    10. Special projects and assignments as business dictates
    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
    • This position has no supervisory responsibilities
    SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
    • Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education of training, and experience in supply chain management, negotiation, or international trade
    • Experience with importing and/or exporting cargo to/from North America
    • Minimum 2 years preferred experience in Supply Chain Operations from Freight Forwarder, stevedore, trucking to warehouse operations
    • Ability to multi-task and respond to customer inquiries
    • Strong Problem Solving, Negotiating Skills
    • Adept at Excel/Access applications
