    Job Summary

    The Research Analyst II role is a 12-month position, working 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., under the direction of the Dean of Research, Planning and Institutional Effectiveness at San Jose City College.

    This grant-funded position requires CSEA (California School Employees Association), Chapter 363 representation.

    Key Responsibilities:

    The Research Analyst II serves as a lead analyst in developing and maintaining institutional research programs. Key duties include:
    • Serving as a lead research analyst in district or college research projects.
    • Developing institutional research studies using various research analysis methodologies and technologies.
    • Collecting, compiling, and assembling statistical data from district, regional, state, and national sources.
    • Designing, preparing, and disseminating statistical reports and survey data for various audiences.
    • Establishing and maintaining databases related to student success metrics, including retention, persistence, course completion, placement, and others.
    • Developing, using, and maintaining query tools and templates for accessing data in data warehouses and other databases.
    • Collaborating with colleagues to compose, prepare, edit, and proof office research documents, reports, memos, and correspondence.
    • Providing training and support to faculty and staff on query tools, templates, and special research topics.
    • Assisting colleges in grant application preparation and reporting, such as Title III submissions.
    • Supporting other college studies, including transfer rates, transfer readiness, institutional effectiveness, and student satisfaction analyses.
    • Staying current on findings and trends in institutional research and planning, particularly regarding data management, data warehousing, decision support systems, and institutional research website use.
    • Participating in local, regional, and state activities to promote institutional research and planning and professional development.
    • Representing the department on district or college planning councils and institutional effectiveness committees.

    Required Qualifications:

    A Bachelor's degree in statistics, mathematics, or a related field is required. Additionally, two years of directly related research work experience, with evidence of increasing responsibility over the work of others, is necessary.
