    Transportation Center Operations Specialist

    This examination's eligible list will be used for filling both permanent and permanent per performance vacancies. Per performance positions do not require City residency, are exempt from employee benefits and are paid $15.50 hourly.
    Nature of Work


    Incumbents in this position answer questions, provide information, give directions to the traveling public, interact with facility lessees, inspect property for maintenance and security needs and are responsible for oversight of the contract operations at the City of St.

    Louis Gateway Transportation Center. Work involves shift, weekend and holiday assignments; therefore, candidates must be available for shift work. Candidates must provide their availability for shift and weekend assignments on the Availability Section of the Employment Application.
    A shift differential is paid to full-time employees working evening and night shifts. Incumbents can expect to rotate shifts every six weeks.
    Two years of experience in transportation, facilities or property management;


    OR
    two years of experience in security/public safety;


    OR
    an equivalent combination of training and experience.


    DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
    At least two years of previous supervisory experience.

    S PREFERENCE POINTS:

    To be eligible for veteran's preference points, the applicant must submit a copy of their DD 214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty with the Employment Application or upon request.

    The Director of Personnel may, in their discretion, accept alternate documentation.

    S PREFERENCE POINTS:

    City residents who pass an examination for a position in the classified service and do not receive any other preference will receive a five (5) point preference on a scale of 100 points on the exam.

    An additional one (1) point shall be added to the passing score of City residents who receive any other preference on a scale of 100 points.

    City residents must have resided in the City for at least one (1) year at the time of filing their application to be eligible for the preference points.

    Some positions may require candidates to pass a " Character Investigation " prior to appointment
