    Summary

    The Resident Assistant (R.A.) is a genuine, caring person committed to establishing and maintaining a positive living environment that fosters maximum growth and development of students. The Summer RA position is a 13-week commitment [PH1] and is responsible for playing a major role in the lives of the residents through meaningful personal interactions, the implementation of programs, policies, and services at Green River College Student Housing. This position is both challenging and rewarding and requires a leader who is interested in consistent training and growth while in the role. A successful RA will maintain an open mind, seek out feedback, and lead and partner with their co-workers to provide the best possible student experience for every resident from the moment of Move-In to their Move-Out. The following contract contains many, but not all, of the standards and expectations that will be necessary to fulfill this objective.

    Community and Interpersonal Development

    • Plan, promote, and complete resident events or programs as designated
    • Assist in the mediation of roommate and other interpersonal conflicts that may arise
    • Be present and available in community beyond duty night
    • Engage in a 1:1 manner with residents to support their experience
    • Serve as the first line of engagement to any student or community issue and contact professional staff as necessary.
    • Support and educate students on how to assume and take responsibility for their actions
    • Host 2 Hall Meetings each Quarter

    Community Standards & Policy Enforcement

    • Serve a night of "duty" or "on-call" on a rotating basis (subject to change as needed)
    • Document any incidents that occur during duty shifts. Incident Reports should be submitted before the start of the next business day
    • Know and adhere to all College policies, procedures, and regulations

    Administrative

    • Responsible for completing requested written reports (duty log entries, room condition reports, incident reports, etc.)
    • Distribute informational material as needed to residents
    • Answer phones, respond to email, and check messages in Microsoft Teams frequently
    • Manage keys and complete room checks for students moving in and out

    Qualifications:

    • High school diploma or GED.
    • Current student and registered for 10 credit hours or more at Green River College
    • GPA of 2.5 or higher.
    • Maintain full-time enrollment and "good standing" with Green River College.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Possess strong customer service skills.
    • Must have troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
    • Commitment to inclusivity, self-reliance, initiative, responsibility, and integrity
    • Strong commitment to building interpersonal relationships with their residents.
    • The ability to work on a team.

    Time Commitment

    10 hours a week on average.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.     Compensation

    Compensation is a room which equates to $2,770.00 at Campus Corner Apartments during the period of employment. not eligible for benefits.

    Must maintain high personal and ethical standards. Behave with the professionalism appropriate to the position. Subject to termination if staff member violates any Residence Hall or University policy.
