- Tests engine, transmission, rigging, propeller, navigational, and related systems to diagnose malfunctions, using various measuring instruments.
- Additionally can address problems involving boat steering mechanisms or propellers.
- Examine repair or installation orders, drawings, and vessel, utilizing knowledge based on experience to determine extent of repairs required or modifications necessary for installation of equipment, accessories, and hardware.
- Install and test steering gear, sanitation and refrigeration systems, electrical systems and accessories, electronic components and accessories, hardware, trim and related components following manufacturer's instructions and drawings.
- Performs maintenance and repair on hydraulic pumps, valves, and regulators.
