- Participate as an active member of the IDT through the provision of behavioral consultation, staff training, and psychological support as needed to individuals identified with high-risk behavioral needs.
- Performs formal and informal assessments including but not limited to assessment of an individual's emotional and behavioral functioning, CASD to determine Psychological Abuse, risk assessments, etc.
- Debriefs with staff and individuals after major crisis or behavioral events and provides supportive counseling to individuals as indicated.
- Follow all department and agency wide systems for proper record keeping and documentation of work duties and individuals' progress.
- Conduct staff training including but not limited to annual staff training on client rights, effective collaboration with families, managing challenging behaviors, overall psychological well-being, and other relevant topics as needed.
- Refer and assist families with obtaining appropriate services related to guardianship, health care proxies/ DNR's, living wills, and burial accounts.
- Assist teams as needed with obtaining services for individuals identified with high-risk behavioral needs (e.g., assist with referral process for IBR, NYSTART, etc.).
- Inform and educate individuals and families on Client Rights on an annual basis.
- Assist in organizing and facilitating Consumer Council Program.
- Complete and write the Cognitive and Affective Development sections of the CFA and semi-annual reports, at least two weeks prior to the interdisciplinary team meeting.
- Provide individual and group counseling to meet the needs of identified individuals.
- Write psychosocial, 21-day reviews, semi-annual and annual reports for ICF Individuals at least 2 weeks prior to the interdisciplinary team meeting.
- Act as a liaison between parents of individuals and ICF Residences.
- Act as a liaison between Hospitals and ICF Residences.
- Participate as an active member of the interdisciplinary team by being aware of and communicating to the team the needs, issues, and plans of the individuals and their families.
- Participates in meetings including, but not limited to ISP, Day Programs, Departmental, Case Reviews, Special IDT, Consult Reviews, and staff trainings.
- Work with the IDT to monitor individuals' psychiatric treatment including consultation with psychiatrists, attendance at psychiatric appointments as needed, and communication of accurate behavioral progress to assist psychiatrist with management of psychotropic medication and treatment planning.
- Complete referrals to other agencies and/or programs as requested by the team.
- Responsible for oversight of BIS staff members and their assigned clusters.
- Training and mentoring of BIS staff.
- Ensure BIS compliance with all agency and department policies.
- Ensure implementation of all department procedures and processes.
- Monitoring of BIS to ensure compliance with required deadlines.
- Ensure that BIS performs all required duties.
- Provide coverage as needed when a vacancy arises within the cluster.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback regarding job performance.
- Work collaboratively with BIS to identify strengths, weaknesses, and to set appropriate goals for performance improvement and professional development.
- Conduct quarterly audit reviews to ensure compliance with required deadlines, policies, and procedures.
- Conduct monthly onsite visits and observations of BIS.
- Provide coverage within the Department as needed.
- Participate in various agency committees including but not limited to HRC.
- Must be able to work flexible hours and travel to multiple sites. Caseloads and schedules are subject to change based on individual's need/request.
- Complete and keep updated in all required agency training (e.g., SCIP, CPR, First Aid, Corporate Compliance, etc.).

The Lead Social Worker will perform all necessary duties of ICF Social Worker for ICF residences including advocacy; assessments; completion of psychosocial and other relevant reports; liaison between hospitals, families, and the residence; assist families with services as needed including guardianship, health care proxies/ DNR's, living wills, and burial accounts; and individual counseling.
The Lead Social Worker will advocate for all individuals, ensuring that their rights and dignity are upheld; act as a psycho-educational resource for staff members; and provide clinical assessments and consultation as needed.
The Lead Social Worker is responsible for oversight of BIS staff members and their assigned clusters.This includes but is not limited to training and mentoring of BIS staff, ensuring that all duties are being performed to satisfactory, ensuring BIS compliance with all agency and department policies and procedures, and completion of performance evaluations.
This oversight will be provided to meet both OPWDD and New York State and Federal regulatory requirements regarding the delivery of behavioral services.
The Lead Social Worker will also provide clinical supervision for department social work staff and interns as needed. *Essential Accountabilities*:Experience working directly with individuals with developmental disabilities including the provision of behavior management/monitoring, individual and /or group counseling, providing clinical supervision and mentoring to staff, experience training others in psychological and behavioral disorders, familiarity with OPWDD regulations.
