    We are the largest Department in the County, with over 80 staff. Our agency works with Colusa County residents in administering social services programs including Cal Works, Cal-Fresh, Medi-Cal, In-home Supportive Services (IHSS), Adult and Children's Services, Public Health and Housing.     This recruitment will be used to fill current vacancies and establish an eligibility list to fill other openings without reposting. There is one position available that can be filled at any level depending on the qualifications of the successful applicant.

    What's this Job All About?
    This supervisory position oversees all social workers assigned to the child welfare program and covers all services components, emergency response, family reunification, family maintenance and permanent plan. The position also provides general oversight of ancillary programs such as Resource Family Approval, Interstate Compact on the Placement Children, Commercially Sexually Exploited Children and the Indian Child Welfare Act.

    At the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), we work a 37.5 full-time work week, with the option of a flex-schedule. Also, the County is currently exploring remote work options of 1-2 days per week (depending on position) upon completion of probation period. This allows our staff to find a work-life balance that best fits their needs.

    Supervision & Examples of Duties

    Social Worker Supervisor I
    Incumbents in the Social Worker Supervisor I classification generally receive direction from a Program Manager or other management level classification. A Social Worker Supervisor I, supervises a variety of Social Workers, clerical and technical staff, but does not supervise employees in the Social Worker IV classification.

    Social Worker Supervisor IISocial Worker Supervisor II receives direction from a Program Manager or other management level classification. Social Worker Supervisor II incumbents provide direct supervision to lower level Social Workers including Social Worker IV.

    OTHER INFORMATION

    Some positions in this classification may require possession of a valid California driver's License. Employees who drive on County business to carry out job-related duties must possess a valid California driver's license for the class of vehicle driven and meet automobile insurability requirements of the County. Eligibility for employment for those who do not meet this requirement due to disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis by the appointing authority.

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    Social Worker Supervisor I

    Three (3) years of full-time experience performing journey level social work case management duties* in a Social Worker II classification in an Interagency Merit System (IMS) county.

    Substitution: One year of graduate work in social work or counseling may substitute for one year of the required experience.

    OR

    One (1) year of full-time experience performing advanced journey level social work case management duties in a Social Worker III classification in an Interagency Merit System (IMS) county.

    Social Worker Supervisor II
    One (1) year of full-time experience performing duties comparable to the Social Worker III or Social Worker IV classification.

    AND

    A master's degree in Social Work or a master's degree from a two (2) year counseling program**.

    *Qualifying social work case management includes direct case work management, such as: assessment, evaluation; conducting investigations of abuse and neglect; preparing court reports; responsibility for a long term caseload, monitoring compliance through home calls and other personal contact; collaboration with other agencies and linking clients to resources and programs; development of a case plan, modification of case plans as needed/required; and authority to impose sanctions or implement actions that impact services.
    **Qualifying master's degrees from a two - year counseling program are those that include a course of study with emphasis in vocational rehabilitation, family or marriage counseling, gerontology, or a closely related field. Qualifying two-year counseling degree programs must have included an internship or supervised fieldwork and completion of approximately 45 semester or 67 quarter units of graduate level courses. Completion of all of the requirements for a Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) license program may be substituted upon submission of verifying proof.

    Supplemental Information

    Salary based on a 37.5 work week
    Social Worker Supervisor I: $5,237 - $8,589
    Social Worker Supervisor II: $5,640 - $9,250


    The salary range above consists of 15 steps. Steps 1-6 are annual merit steps with approximately 5% difference between each step, based on successful performance. Steps 7-15 are additional merit steps, requiring 2 years of satisfactory performance at the previous step. Steps 7-14 provide 2.5% increases, while Step 15 offers a 5% increase. The final salary offered will depend on the applicant's experience and qualifications, ranging from steps 1 to 15.
