    C&I Senior Underwriter – Northern NJ

    FinTrust Connect is excited to announce that we have partnered with a reputable bank in search of a highly skilled C&I Senior Underwriter. This individual will be responsible for evaluating and underwriting commercial lending applications for the bank, assessing credit risks, and determining the creditworthiness of prospective borrowers.     Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting; or equivalent relevant business experience.
    • Minimum of 5 years of related experience, including commercial underwriting and robust credit skills.
    • Knowledge of credit policy, bank policies, and commercial loan documentation.
    • Proficiency in analyzing tax returns, operating statements, and pro-forma statements to calculate loan-to-value ratio and debt-coverage ratio.
    • Experience in cash flow and leverage analysis.
    • Strong decision-making ability in handling complex credit situations.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Proficiency in MS Office and financial spread software (e.g., Moody's, TAC).

    Description:

    • Process, underwrite, and evaluate credit applications received from the bank's branch network and loan officers.
    • Analyze financial data to assess credit risks and determine the creditworthiness of prospective borrowers for loan requests ranging from $250K to $20M.
    • Monitor the loan portfolio through annual reviews and ensure compliance with financial and covenant requirements.
    • Communicate credit decisions and issues to customers and relevant bank personnel.
    • Gather and analyze borrower data, including historical and current financial statements, and competitive industry information.
    • Collaborate closely with the Sales Team, C&I Director, and CLO to structure loans and recommend suitable loan transactions.
    • Interact with environmental engineers, third-party vendors, and internal bank personnel.
    • Prepare loan submissions for Credit Committee and Board of Directors.
    • Assist in developing and updating departmental policies and procedures.
    • Stay informed about bank credit policies, loan programs, and real estate market trends.
    • Fulfill other duties as required to support lending activities.
