    Position: Psychiatric Emergency Nurse Practitioner (NP)

    Job Description: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Psychiatric Emergency Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our dynamic team in the Emergency Psychiatry Department. The Psychiatric Emergency NP will play a vital role in assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients presenting with acute psychiatric emergencies.

    Responsibilities:

    • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments, including mental status examinations and risk assessments, for patients in the emergency department.
    • Formulate differential diagnoses and develop appropriate treatment plans in collaboration with the attending psychiatrist and interdisciplinary team.
    • Provide crisis intervention, stabilization, and brief psychotherapy to patients experiencing acute psychiatric distress.
    • Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, as clinically indicated, in accordance with hospital protocols and guidelines.
    • Collaborate closely with emergency department staff, social workers, and community resources to ensure continuity of care and appropriate disposition for patients.

    Qualifications:

    • Master's or Doctorate degree in Nursing from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
    • Current certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).
    • Active, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in the state of Maryland.
    • Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in an emergency psychiatric setting preferred.
    • Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills, with the ability to manage complex psychiatric cases independently.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and crisis intervention skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
