    The Licensed Practical Nurse position will provide direct patient care and assist the Registered Nurse in the delivery of patient care as outlined by institutional rules and professional nursing practices.


    Job responsibilities include the following:

    • Medication Administration
    • Transcribing Physician Orders
    • Monitoring the patient's mental and physical status and maintains accurate documentation of care provided to patients.
    • Assist in the development of nursing care plans based on diagnosis, medical information and patient needs.
    • Informs and communicates with other disciplines on campus and the community as it relates to health care needs of the patients.
    Typical Schedule is 6:45 am - 7:15 pm on a two-week rotating 36/48 schedule.

    The Walter B.

    Jones Center operates two adult inpatient treatment programs on site in Greenville, NC:
    (1) Woodside Treatment Center and (2) Lakeside Psychiatric Hospital. The primary purpose and mission of the Walter B. Jones Center is "To provide inpatient treatment, psychiatric stabilization and medical detoxification for individuals with mental health, substance use and other co-occurring psychiatric diagnosis for ongoing community based treatment and recovery". The Center is accredited by the Joint Commission and SAMSHA/CSAT.

    Two specialty programs are offered to all 100 NC Counties:
    () Inpatient Opioid Treatment for adults and (2) Inpatient Perinatal Services for women in their 1st, 2nd, and 3rd trimesters with substance use disorders.

    Qualified candidates must document on the application that they possess all of the following:


    • Demonstrated working knowledge of nursing techniques, procedures, theory and practices.
    • Proven skills in routine medical procedures (i.e. basic wound care including cleaning and bandaging injured areas, taking vital signs, such as blood pressure, temperature and weight, collect specimens, etc.).
    • Proven skills in preparing and administering medications.
    • Proven ability to guide and counsel subordinate staff on daily routines.
    • Proven ability to provide direct nursing care within scope of practice.
    • Proven ability to communicate effectively with patients and families orally and in written form.

    Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus

    Qualified applicants must be selected from the candidate pool of this posting and meet the State policy following requirements:


    A newly hired permanent full time or permanent part-time employee who works 30 to 40 hours per week is eligible for a sign-on bonus (this will be prorated for employees working less than 40 hours per week).

    An employee is not eligible for a sign-on bonus if:

    (1) the employee has held a position in North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date);

    (2) the employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency;

    (3) or DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.
