    ASSISTANCE LEAGUE OF LOS ANGELES

    Assistance League of Los Angeles ("the League") has grown andchanged over the last century, evolving from a small localcommunity service group into a national movement for good. Today,the League is an agent for change, one that improves the lives of22,000 homeless, foster, and impoverished children in L.A. Countyannually. The League's critical needs services and education andarts enrichment programs respond to the present and future needs ofthe community.

    CEO POSITION OVERVIEW

    Board Governance: Works with Board to fulfill theorganization's mission.

    • Responsible for leading the League in a manner that supportsand guides the organization's mission as defined by the Board ofDirectors.
    • Responsible for communicating effectively with the Board andproviding, in a timely and accurate manner, all informationnecessary for the Board to function properly and to make informeddecisions.

    Financial Performance and Viability: Develops resourcessufficient to ensure the financial health of theorganization.

    • Ability to create and execute effective fundraising strategiesincluding major gifts, grants, and donor cultivation to support theLeague's mission.
    • Skill in building and maintaining strong relationships withdonors, sponsors, and community partners.
    • Proficiency in writing compelling grant proposals and securingfunding.
    • Responsible for the fiscal integrity of the League, includingsubmission to the Board of a proposed annual budget and monthlyfinancial statements which accurately reflect the organization'sfinancial condition.
    • Responsible for fiscal management that generally anticipatesoperating within the approved budget, ensures maximum resourceutilization and maintenance of the organization in a positivefinancial position.

    Organization Mission and Strategy:Works with Board andstaff to ensure the mission is fulfilled through programs,strategic planning, and community outreach.

    • Supports the Auxiliaries in the implementation of Leagueprograms that carry out the organization's mission.
    • Responsible for strategic planning to ensure the League cansuccessfully fulfill its mission into the future.
    • Effectively navigates the complexities of a membership-drivenorganization to fulfillment of program goals.
    • Ability to inspire and motivate League members andvolunteers.
    • Responsible for positive promotion of the League's image bybeing active and visible in the community and by working closelywith other professional, civic and privateorganizations.

    Organization Operations: Oversees and implementsresources to ensure organization operations areappropriate.

    • Responsible for hiring and retention of competent, qualifiedstaff.
    • Responsible for effective administration of internal Leagueoperations.
    • Responsible for all notes, agreements, and other instrumentsmade and entered into and on behalf of the organization.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Reports to and works closely with the Board of Directors toseek their involvement in policy decisions, fundraising, and toincrease the overall visibility of the organization.
    • Supervises and collaborates with organization staff.
    • Strategic planning and implementation.
    • With CFO, develops and executes operation of annualbudget.
    • Serves as the League's primary spokesperson to theorganization's constituents, the media, and the public.
    • Establishes and maintains relationships with variousorganizations and utilizes those relationships to strategicallyenhance the League's mission.
    • Engages infundraising and developing otherrevenues.
    • Oversees marketing and other communications efforts.
    • Works collaboratively with Board President in developing boardmeetings.
    • Establishes employment and administrative policies andprocedures for all functions and for the day-to-day operation ofthe organization.
    • Reviews and approves contracts for services.
    • Other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors.

    Professional Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in relevant field of study.
    • Five or more years of senior nonprofit managementexperience.
    • Transparent and high integrity leadership.
    • Experience and skill in working with a Board of Directors and amembership-driven organization.
    • High level strategic thinking and planning. Ability to envisionand convey the organization's strategic future to the staff, board,volunteers, and donors.
    • Ability to effectively communicate the organization's missionto donors, volunteers, and the overall community.
    • Demonstrated ability to oversee and collaborate withstaff.
    • A history of successfully generating new revenue streams andimproving financial results.
    • Active fundraising experience. Excellent donor relations skillsand understanding of the funding community.
    • Previous success in establishing relationships with individualsand organizationsof influence including funders, partner agencies,and volunteers.
    • Solid organizational abilities, including planning, delegating,program development, and task facilitation.
    • Strong financial management skills including budgetpreparation, analysis, decision making, and reporting.
    • Strong written and oral communication skills.
    • Strong public speaking ability.
    • Strong work ethic with a passion for the League'smission

    Pay Range:

    Salary range starts at $180,000, depending onexperience

    Generous benefits include health insurance, 401k with employermatch, paid time off, and annual bonus eligibility
