- Works collaboratively with supervisor, other librarians, and faculty to develop, deliver, information literacy instruction
- Develops Information Literacy instruction in accordance with Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) standards in the classroom, the online environment and through faculty partnerships
- Extends services through embedded librarianship and support of undergraduate researchers
- Engages faculty and other teaching staff to integrate information literacy concepts and skills into the curriculum
- Provides high quality reference and research support on demand by appointment, email, chat, or other venue
- Prepares online and print research guides to augment instruction and to assist faculty and student researchers
- Collaborates on the development of a dynamic online service environment to engage users with library collections and services
- Develops programmatic assessment models that measure the impact of library instruction on student learning
- Engages students in their learning through active and collaborative learning approaches
- Demonstrates ability to deliver instruction to diverse student populations, with varied levels of learning and preparation
- Demonstrates experience providing feedback students can use to improve their performance
- Maintains an ongoing program of professional development and participates in profession-specific organizations, workshops, seminars, conferences, and activities
- Engages regularly in CSM committee work, departmental initiatives, governance, college-wide workgroups/initiatives such as Achieving the Dream work
- Provides guidance to colleagues and CSM library staff to improve delivery of library services
- Generates reference usage reports to support library planning
- Stays up to date on college events and policies
- Supports ongoing evaluation of library research databases and print holdings by providing Director with feedback gathered from interactions with faculty and students
- Guides the work of library student assistants as needed
- Opens/closes Library when needed
- Master's Degree in Library Science (MLS) from an accredited Institution of Higher Education; OR currently completing master's degree
- Experience providing reference and delivering information literacy instruction
- Ability to teach in face-to-face and virtual formats
- Experience creating LibGuides or similar research support materials
- Ability to use word processing, basic internet applications, and basic database navigation
- Ability to use a learning management system (such as D2L/MyLearning) to support and facilitate instructional delivery
- Experience or coursework in collection development, cataloging, embedded librarianship, and/or supervision

CSM Librarians
CSM Librarians work closely with students inside our libraries, in the classroom, and online to promote student success. Librarians teach a range of face-to-face and online classes. Using both synchronous and asynchronous modes of instructional delivery, our Librarians focus on student engagement through critical thinking, analytical and hands-on approaches. Librarians are expected to be knowledgeable of learning management systems in addition to face-to-face and innovative technology-based instructional delivery approaches.
