POSITION SUMMARY:
To be fully engaged in providing Quality/No Harm, Customer Service and Stewardship by performing detail analysis of potential new lines of businesses, development of business plans, and performing financial/operational analysis inclusive of Ambulatory Care Centers. The Financial Analyst supports the Surgical Services, Heart & Vascular, Women & Children, and Clinical Operations Service Lines as a member of their operations team. In addition to supporting the work of the surgical services business analyst, the Surgical Services Financial Analyst supports the capital budget and operating forecast processes, provides monitoring and reporting against goals and expectations, and participates in the development of the Surgical Services Business Analysts.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Prepares analysis of surgical services variance reports to monitor expenses, examine profitability and maximize reimbursement; performs cost benefit analysis for new requests; identifies and develops initiatives to continually drive down costs.
- Works with surgical staff to prepare annual capital requests for the Operating Room, Endoscopy Suite, Ambulatory Surgery Centers and Anesthesia; develops pro-formas to support capital equipment requests.
- Prepares late fee analysis for procedural areas and highlights trends for surgical services leadership.
- Performs block utilization analysis and provides recommendations for surgical services leadership.
- Analyzes and reports on anesthesia allocation efficiency for Surgical Services, Heart & Vascular, Women & Children, and Clinical Operations Service Lines
- Prepares and provides data for surgical services monthly operating review
- Identifies deviations from Performance Enhancement Plan for Surgical Services, Heart & Vascular, Women & Children, and Clinical Operations Service Lines and assures the monthly/quarterly comparison of performance and/or results against established standards and/or objectives.
- Participates in the value analysis process and purchase of new supply items.
- Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with Strategy and Finance teams to develop solutions, programs, and policies supporting the organization and individual business units
- Participates in providing gap analyses, highlighting current state, future state, operational needs, and best practices.
- Creates ad-hoc analyses and business forecasts
- Works with end-users to define visual reporting needs and assists in designing, building, and testing of dashboards.
- Supports data analysis to identify and quantify opportunities to enhance clinical and operational standardization.
- Investigates and helps resolve data integrity problems, provides technical support and training for systems and software, and applies existing technology to enhance operations.
- Participates in the development of the Surgical Services Business Analysts.
Work Experience
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in health management, business or related field required
- Work Experience: Minimum two years healthcare or related experience in financial analysis required
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Proven self-starter with ability to prioritize multiple projects in a cross-functional, fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret complex data
- Strong interpersonal and conflict management skills.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to sit for two hours or more in front of a computer screen and concentrate on complex projects.
- Ability to travel to any work location within Health First on short notice.
- Ability to stand for two hours or more while observing work tasks.
