We are committed to improving the health of our communities by delivering exceptional personalized health care with dignity compassion and respect.Works under direction and general supervision of the Nurse Director/Manager Charge Nurse or Registered Nurse as required and according to established hospital policies and procedures Performs various duties to assist the professional nursing staff with routine patient care needs communication comfort safety documentation and treatments The role encompasses the provision of direct clinical and support services to patients families across healthcare continuum ensuring quality safe delivery care patients
Maintains timely ongoing verbal communication RN throughout shift regarding patient condition Notifies RN immediately any significant change in patient's condition monitoring alarms For example change in vital signs change in patient's mental status abnormal blood sugar patent fall patent concerns with care Upon initial contact patients visitors staff identifies self as Nursing student introduces self patent name Wears appropriate name badge which identifies self as Nursing Student II Accurately collects records patent data vital signs intake output blood sugar weights restraint caremonitoring other complies hospital documentation standards ensure complete accurate patent record Initiates prompt response all patient call lights seeks assistance staff members appropriate Provides basic skin careroutine diabetic footcare application non-medicated ointments application elastic stockings ace wraps venodynes turning repositioning patents every two hours other associated tasks Sets up patents meals assists them feeding opening food containers maintaining calorie counts recording intakeoutput measures I Os Assists nursehealth team members during simple complex treatmentsprocedures Provides basic preoperative cares readies patent Operating Room conjunction RN Collects labels sends transportrs specimens appropriate lab slipsrequisitions When ambulating patents using safe proper technique applies safety devices hydraulic lifts bed scale needed Identifies emergency crisis situations initiates appropriate response directed including immediate communication events registered nurse Maintains competence variety technical skills may include but not limited PD cycler setup Cast splint Car GU irrigation setup Chest tube setup Arterial line setup Basic ostomy Care Addresses patron comfort information needs providing informative nonclinical information patrons families orienting patrons units room services distributing patron mailflowers arranging room necessary personal items available accessible includes call lights distributes nourishments changes linens clothing refill ice packs run patron errands assigned RN Works cooperatively all staff members takes steps resolve interpersonal conflicts Seeks assistance RN supervisor needed Participates staff meetingsappropriate inservices Responsible reading reviewing minutes clinical updates unit Maintains accurate education record Healthstream Maintains competencies perform role Complies established practice standards policies procedures protocols guidelines regulations for example DPH JCAHO Boston fire codes OSHA Dresses appropriately dress code requirements wearing visible hospital ID badge identifies self nursing assistant Adapts changing patron unit needs offering assistance team members floating units adjusting assignments etc needed Communicates charge nursessupervisor coordinate break periods unit activities Maintains visibility unit leaves work area without notification charge nursesstaff nurse Delivers care nonjudgmental nondiscriminatory manner sensitive demonstrates respect patron diversity Acts manner protects confidentiality patron employee hospital information times Maintains safe clean appropriately equipped environment performs spot spill cleaning biological spills Identified brokenexpired equipment supplies removes service notifies chargernurse Deliver equipment repair sites requested
