    What You'll do:

    We are seeking a passionate and strategic Quality Engineering Lead to drive our team towards delivering high-quality software. You will champion continuous improvement, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment where test automation effectiveness is quantified and optimized. By staying ahead of the curve in QA trends and technologies, you will lead the development of comprehensive test strategies, robust automation frameworks, and a culture of collaboration that ensures exceptional software quality.Individuals successful in this role will have a balance of these types of qualities and experiences:

    Leadership & Strategy

    • Provide strategic vision and leadership for the Quality Engineering team, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
    • Champion continuous improvement, leading efforts to quantify test automation effectiveness and identify areas for optimization.
    • Foster a culture of learning and continuous improvement within the team, staying abreast of the latest trends and technologies in the QA space.

    Test Strategy & Planning

    • Collaborate with technical leadership to define comprehensive test strategies for complex software solutions, leveraging a risk-based approach.
    • Advocate for test automation best practices, identifying opportunities to streamline workflows and optimize test suite efficiency.
    • Design and execute comprehensive test plans, encompassing functional, non-functional, and security testing across various levels (unit, integration, system, acceptance).
    • Collaborate with product stakeholders to define and refine acceptance criteria.

    Test Automation & Development

    • Build, maintain, and enhance test automation frameworks, ensuring they effectively support agile delivery practices.
    • Partner with developers to coach and mentor them on writing clean, testable code.
    • Participate in code reviews and provide valuable feedback on technical design and implementation.

    Specifically, to lead a team of high-performing Quality Engineers, we seek a passionate individual with the following types of technical capabilities:

    Technical Skills & Experience

    • Problem-Solving & Root Cause Analysis: Proven ability to identify root causes of issues and drive process improvements through strong analytical skills.
    • Test Automation Expertise: Demonstrated success in defining and implementing test automation strategies across various testing types (regression, performance, security, etc.).
    • Modern Testing Practices: Familiarity with BDD, TDD, and Continuous Testing methodologies.
    • Test Automation Frameworks: Proven track record of implementing and optimizing frameworks like Selenium, NightwatchJS, Jest, Playwright, and Cypress.
    • SDLC & DevOps: Solid understanding of SDLC principles (Agile, DevOps) and their application in software development.
    • Testing Tools & Frameworks: Extensive experience with modern testing tools and frameworks.
    • Test Plan & Case Creation: Expertise in creating functional, end-to-end, and solution test plans and test cases.
    • CI/CD Integration: Understanding of GitHub Actions and integrating testing into CI/CD workflows.
    • Testing Execution: Expertise in executing various testing types (sanity, smoke, functional, regression) and supporting UAT.
    • Software Development Knowledge: Strong grasp of software development methodologies and design patterns.
    • Cloud Experience: Experience working in a cloud environment (e.g., AWS) is a plus.

    Core Requirements:

    • 5+ years of experience leading and mentoring Quality Engineering teams.
    • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field
    • Experience assisting with the coordination of testing efforts between multiple (local and remote) testing teams.
    • Ability to obtain a security clearance with the federal government (US Citizenship required)

    The salary range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted forany applicable geographicdifferential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Groundswell, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is:


    $73, $151,628.00
