    Performance Objectives

    The Toddler Montessori Assistant Teacher is responsible for all aspects related to supporting the teacher in their efforts to advance the education of the students under the teacher's charge, utilizing the best principles and practices based in the Montessori tradition of education. The assistant supports the teacher in delivering the core Montessori philosophy of respect for the individual child, preparation of the environment, fostering independence, order, and concentration in the child, respect for sensitive periods, recognizing the importance of intrinsic motivation and the absorbent mind.

    The Position: Principal Responsibilities

    • Supporting the developmental social-emotional needs of each student as necessary and with the aid of appropriate support personnel
    • Participating in level and faculty meetings and all-school professional development meetings
    • Creating a positive environment in which all children feel known and valued.
    • Collaborating with colleagues to design meaningful learning experiences and support one another.
    • Supporting student social development and behavior in alignment with Positive Discipline guidelines.
    • Communicating in a timely and efficient manner with colleagues
    • Engaging in continuing professional growth and development practices
    • Participating in the life of the school through regular presence at major events as a means of supporting the students and the mission of the school
    • Reports to: Lead Classroom Teacher

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree preferred
    • Experience working with children in school, child care, or home setting
    • Passion and joy for working with toddler-aged children (18 months-36 months) and an enthusiasm for learning

    • Personal traits and communication style that nurture the growth of children
    • An agile, growth mindset and a solid work ethic
    • Works cooperatively with adults and is a collaborative team player

    • Comfort with using technology daily and a willingness to learn and navigate specific platforms, such as Google and student information systems.
    • Certifications, Licenses, or Registrations: First Aid/CPR certification required (school will sponsor)

    Position Classification

    • 10-month, faculty, salaried non-exempt, full-time and part-time positions available The position begins on August 14, 2024.
