The Principal Safety Professional is a senior-level subject matter expertise position. The position will support Disney Cruise Line, onboard the ships & beyond, by providing sound safety direction regarding Cast Safety. This will be accomplished by ensuring a prioritized risk assessment strategy, developing and implementing required Cast Safety programs, and ensuring that safety assurance/sustainment strategies are in place.
You will report to a Worldwide Segment Safety Services and a dotted line to the Director Quality Assurance & Safety, Disney Cruise Line
Responsibilities
On any given day, as a Principal Safety Professional, you might:
Assist Leaders to prevent injury, reduce risk and assure compliance by integrating actionable, sustainable, efficient, and effective safety processes into the area lines of business. This may include performing risk assessments, ergonomics evaluations, safety audits, safety conversations, safety training, PPE hazard assessments, slip resistance testing, etc.
Lead the implementation of all the required Disney safety programs and policies.
Assess performance through data review, incident history, and audits and recommend appropriate corrective and preventative actions, as appropriate.
Lead the development and/or implementation of all required Cast Safety training.
Integrate appropriate safety and health messages into the existing communication vehicles.
Act as the Safety representative during regulatory inspections and inquiries.
Assist with Guest-related issues, as needed.
Inform Operations Leaders and Safety & Health Leadership of safety and health local, global and industry issues, and safety best practices that can impact business performance.
Communicate and collaborate with onboard Security, Medical Professionals, and Safety Officers on incidents and Disney processes and policies.
You Will Have:
Here's what you need to be successful at this job:
10+ years of occupational safety experience required in a related field (Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, etc.)
Knowledge of relevant regulatory and industry standards and best practices
Demonstrated ability to use analytics and identify trends
Determined and resourceful professional with the ability to solve problems outside area of expertise
Demonstrated flexibility and ability to operate within an ambiguous and changing environment
Proven strong planning, organization and prioritization skills
Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
Ability to resolve conflicts and diffuse difficult situations
Demonstrated strong consultative and influencing skills
Experience in training delivery
Ability to travel domestically and globally
Preferred Qualifications:
It would be great if you also have:
Occupational Safety experience
Demonstrated track-record of driving continuous improvement
Preferred Education
4-year degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or Safety Engineering
Advanced degree in Occupational Safety
Certifications: CSP, CIH, or PE
Required Education
4-year college degree
