    Summary:

    The Nutrition service aide works in both the kitchen and cafeteria. Assists in the delivery of quality food services by performing duties, which include, but are not limited to, service of patient meals, food preparation and sanitation of service ware and equipment.

    Responsibilities:

    Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

    * Serves food on tray line.
    *
  • Dispenses food in a uniform manner using portion guidelines, unless otherwise noted.
    * Notes patient food preferences or dietary intolerance.
    * Ensures that items selected on menu are issued when marked.
    * Places items neatly on plate and tray.
    * Serves meal in a timely manner.

    * Always observes infection control practices.

  • Maintains kitchen in a clean, neat and organized manner.
    * Implements "clean as you go" strategy.
    * Monitors food and equipment temperatures.
    * Utilizes proper hand washing techniques.
    * Sanitizes surfaces after use.
    * Follows cleaning schedules and records completed jobs.
    * Uses "first in, first out" procedures.

    3. Prepares food items like simple salads, cutting fruits or vegetables, bake pre-made cookies, etc.

    * Prepares and delivers items as requested by patients or departments.
    * Delivers food carts to patient care units. Returns carts to kitchen at designated times.
    * Washes specified items by hand, i.e., pots, pans, knives.
    * Loads and operates dish machine.
    * Puts clean dishes and utensils away.
    * Performs cleaning duties as assigned.
    * Works hospital cafeteria or coffee shops

  • Runs cash register in hospital cafeteria.
    * Maintains serving line in a clean, neat and organized manner; replenishes as needed.
    * Serves hot and cold food/beverages on cafeteria serving lines to visitors and employees.
    * Replenishes the salad bar, etc. and keeps it clean.
    * Replenishes silverware, napkins, cups straws, condiments, etc.
    * Ensures beverage machines stay full.
    * Wipes down tables and chairs in the cafeteria throughout the day with a hospital-approved disinfectant.
    * Clears any soiled dishes, trash from tables.
    * Cleans refrigerators, freezers and other cafeteria equipment.

    * Mops floors as scheduled and as necessary.
    * Disposes of trash and garbage in appropriate manner and as needed.
    * Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.

    Hours will be dependent on patient census and workload. Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, to include after-hours and weekends as necessary.

    EDUCATION:

    GED or High School Diploma preferred.
