General Statement of DutiesProvides a variety of treatment and/or prevention services to clients with a wide range of psychiatric, emotional, relational, substance abuse or social problems; may provide consultation and education services to specific populations; does related work as required.

Essential Duties
Considerable knowledge of principles of community mental health and/or developmental disability and/or substance abuse; considerable knowledge and understanding of fundamental concepts of normal and abnormal human behavior, personality development, family and group dynamics; considerable knowledge of and an ability to apply a variety of psychotherapeutic treatment techniques/modalities; adherence to basic ethics appropriate for a professional helping relationship; knowledge of mental health diagnoses, assessment, and/or psychological and educational testing; some knowledge of consultation program; considerable knowledge of psychosocial history development; very good interviewing and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing; demonstrated ability to act with good judgment.
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a two (2)-year master's degree in clinical social work, psychology or a directly related field plus one (1) year of experience in a mental health setting [for a one-year degree, one(1) additional year of experience or an internship is required to replace the second year of formal training]; OR , a bachelor's degree in related field plus four (4) years of experience in a community mental health setting; OR , any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Valid Virginia Driver's License.Mu st hold or be qualified to work toward licensure or accreditation for the appropriate discipline.
