    Description
    Frederick County Public Works is seeking a highly capable and customer-focused Secretary to support our Inspections Division. This is a critical front-line role for a professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, remains calm under pressure, and brings precision, professionalism, and resilience to every interaction. You'll serve as a key point of contact for citizens, contractors, and internal teams balancing multiple priorities while delivering exceptional service and maintaining operational accuracy.

    What You'll Do:
    Key Responsibilities
    As a Secretary, you will:
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for the Inspections Division by answering phones, greeting visitors, and providing accurate, professional assistance to the public.
    • Deliver high-level customer service, including confidently de-escalating upset customers and resolving issues in a calm, solutions-focused manner.
    • Support the permitting process by reviewing permits, entering issue dates, processing applications, and collecting departmental fees.
    • Prepare correspondence, manage incoming and outgoing mail, and maintain accurate records with strong attention to detail.
    • Perform a wide range of administrative and clerical functions while effectively multitasking, managing time, and working both independently and collaboratively.
    What We're Looking For:
    • 1+ year experience in a customer-focused environment or related fields.
    • Proven ability to multitask, manage time effectively, and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced setting.
    • Resilient, dependable, and able to perform well under pressure.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic computer functions.
