    Posting Summary:

    The Cancer Research Training and Education Coordination (CRTEC) component of the UVM Cancer Center (UVMCC) is responsible for developing, overseeing, and monitoring outcomes for cancer-related research training & education activities across UVM, the UVM Larner College of Medicine (LCOM), and UVM Medical Center (UVMMC), as well as community education efforts that serve and are informed by the needs of the multi-state UVMCC catchment area.

    In collaboration with the Associate Director for CRTEC, the Assistant Director will assist in development, administration, and coordination of cancer-related training within UVMCC and across the University.


    Specific efforts in this regard include:

    development of a rigorous and multifaceted cancer biology training program; attaining extramural grants to support training and education; and tracking and evaluating program and trainee outcomes.

    Director will interface with UVMCC leadership in planning, implementing, and evaluating programming that provides training opportunities and career development pathways for high school, undergraduate, and graduate students, post-graduate fellows, and early career faculty.

    Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience): Bachelor's degree in a related or specialized field and four to five years related experience required.

    Progressive experience in coordination, implementation, and administration of education related services. Ability to handle multiple competing priorities and bring long-term projects to fruition in a highly matrixed environment. Ability to coordinate materials related to training grants and track career progression over time. Experience with Microsoft Office. Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion is required.

    Desirable Qualifications:
    Previous experience in educational programming and career development from high school to early career faculty. Previous experience in a cancer research training and education program. Strong computer skills. Experience with populating and generating reports from data management software.
    Bargaining unit position, External candidates must complete a 4-month probationary period, Occasional evening and/or weekends required (if non-exempt position, may result in overtime), This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule with an option to split time between campus and elsewhere, in accordance with the university telecommuting policy, This position is eligible for full-time telework in accordance with the university telecommuting policy
