    The Madhavan Lab in the Department of Neurology is seeking candidates for one full-time Postdoctoral Research Associate I. Dr. Madhavan's research merges the fields of stem cell biology and neuroscience to understand the biology of aging and neurodegeneration, and to develop creative approaches to tackle age-related disorders such as Parkinson's disease (PD). Her NSF, MJ Fox Foundation, and NIH-supported research program incorporates rodent and human model systems, and a range of in vitro and in vivo behavioral, cellular, and molecular approaches, to address these goals. The program is accepting applications from highly motivated candidates to work on PD and Aging related projects utilizing human-induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived neural cells and rodent models.

    Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States.

    Duties & Responsibilities
  • Carry out independent and/or directed research to achieve the objectives of the research project.
  • Innovate new areas of inquiry.
  • Advance novel techniques and experimental approaches.
  • Assist faculty member by participating in research planning and proposal writing.
  • Show productivity by timely preparation and publishing of manuscripts in scientific journals.
  • Identify relevant funding sources and apply for independent funding.
  • Guide junior lab members.
  • Participate as a team member and contribute to a productive scientific environment.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Documented ability to conduct original research with strong publication record.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Minimum Qualifications
  • PhD or MD/PhD in physiology, neuroscience, molecular cellular biology, or related field.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with human iPSCs and rodent models.
  • Significant experience in neurobiology and neurodegeneration (especially Parkinson's disease) related experimentation in animal and cell models.
