    As a School-Based Intervention Mediator, you will play a vital role in fostering a safe and supportive learning environment by addressing conflicts and promoting restorative justice practices within the school community. Reporting to the Behavioral Health Supervisor, you will collaborate closely with a team of trauma counselors and the conflict resolution team to provide comprehensive support to students, teachers, and staff.

    Responsibilities:

    1. Mediation and Conflict Resolution:
    • Facilitate constructive dialogues between parties involved in conflicts, disputes, or incidents within the school environment.
    • Utilize restorative justice principles and techniques to address harm and promote understanding, accountability, and healing.
    • Help individuals identify underlying issues, express their needs, and collaboratively develop solutions.
    1. Assessment and Intervention:
    • Conduct initial assessments of conflicts or incidents to determine appropriate intervention strategies.
    • Provide individualized support and guidance to students, teachers, and staff members experiencing interpersonal conflicts or behavioral challenges.
    • Collaborate with the Behavioral Health Supervisor and other team members to develop and implement intervention plans tailored to the needs of individuals and the school community.
    1. Training and Education:
    • Deliver training sessions and workshops on conflict resolution, restorative justice principles, and communication skills for students, teachers, and staff.
    • Promote a culture of respect, empathy, and inclusivity through educational initiatives and awareness campaigns.
    • Provide ongoing support and resources to empower stakeholders to effectively manage conflicts and build positive relationships.
    1. Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate and confidential records of mediation sessions, intervention plans, and outcomes.
    • Prepare reports and updates for the Behavioral Health Supervisor and other relevant stakeholders to track progress and identify trends or areas for improvement.
    • Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards regarding confidentiality, consent, and reporting requirements.
    1. Collaboration and Teamwork:
    • Work collaboratively with the trauma counselors and restorative justice conflict resolution team members to provide holistic support to the school community.
    • Participate in regular team meetings, case consultations, and professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge.
    • Foster positive relationships with school administrators, teachers, parents, and community partners to promote a coordinated and integrated approach to addressing conflicts and supporting student well-being.
    Requirements:
    • Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, counseling, education, or a related field (master's degree preferred).
    • Previous experience in conflict resolution, mediation, counseling, or social services, preferably in an educational or youth-focused setting.
    • Knowledge of trauma-informed practices, restorative justice principles, and culturally responsive approaches to conflict resolution.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport, facilitate difficult conversations, and work effectively with diverse populations.
    • Excellent problem-solving abilities, critical thinking skills, and emotional intelligence.
    • Capacity for empathy, patience, and resilience in challenging situations.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications.
    • Willingness to undergo background checks and comply with school policies and procedures.
