    About the Job:

    If you love everything about buffets and delivering top-notch guest service, then this Buffetier position on a cruise ship might just be your dream job. Your main responsibility will be to keep the buffet area running smoothly, ensuring guests have a fantastic dining experience.

    Responsibilities:

    • Buffet Operations:
      • Set up and organize the buffet area before meal times.
      • Keep all food stations well-stocked and visually appealing.
      • Monitor food levels and replenish to maintain a fresh buffet.
      • Coordinate with the culinary team for food delivery and presentation.
    • Guest Service:
      • Welcome guests warmly as they arrive at the buffet.
      • Assist guests with seating and provide information on food options.
      • Answer guest questions, offer recommendations, and cater to special dietary requirements.
      • Ensure guests are satisfied throughout their dining experience.
    • Food Presentation and Quality Control:
      • Present all food items attractively and up to standards.
      • Check food quality and freshness, discarding any subpar items.
      • Maintain appealing food displays by arranging and replenishing.
      • Address food quality concerns with the culinary team.
    • Cleanliness and Hygiene:
      • Keep the buffet area clean and sanitized, including all food displays and utensils.
      • Regularly sanitize surfaces, equipment, and serving items.
      • Ensure proper food safety practices are followed.
      • Coordinate waste disposal and dishwashing with the stewarding team.
    • Team Collaboration:
      • Work closely with other buffet staff for smooth operations.
      • Help train and guide new team members.
      • Communicate effectively with the culinary team for food preparation needs.
      • Coordinate with wait staff for guest seating and service.
    • Inventory Management:
      • Assist in maintaining food and beverage inventory levels.
      • Report shortages or wastage.
      • Plan and order necessary supplies with the culinary team.
      • Conduct stocktakes and keep accurate records.

    Qualifications:

    • Experience in buffet or food service is a plus.
    • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation.
    • Strong customer service and communication skills.
    • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
    • Detail-oriented and proactive.
    • Willingness to work long hours, weekends, and holidays on a cruise ship.
    • Basic understanding of food and beverage offerings is advantageous.
    • Good physical stamina and ability to stand for long periods.
