    About the Team


    The Sensors Division at STR focuses on applied research and advanced technology development on innovative sensor system technology, from underwater acoustics and active/passive EO/IR to radar and electronic warfare.

    Our work spans the modeling, development, integration, and test and evaluation required to prove the capability at each step.

    The Advanced Systems Development (ASD) Group within the Sensors Division supports the DoD and IC. ASD executes a broad portfolio of undersea and overhead technologies focused on advancing sensing capabilities in contested areas.

    The team develops signature exploitations, implements advanced algorithms and processing, creates novel sensing approaches spanning acoustic, RF, and optical domains, advances UUV designs and subsystem technologies, and fields prototype hardware to demonstrate impactful applications.


    The Role:


    STR is seeking a Program Manager with a technical background to manage an R&D portfolio of programs for a diverse range of sensors including sonar, RF, and optical.

    In this position, you will collaborate with researchers and engineers on multi-disciplinary teams within STR to develop, build, test, and demonstrate novel systems within the defined cost, schedule, and resource constraints.


    What you will Do:
    Effectively manage multiple programs to assure that technical progress and metrics are achieved within cost and schedule

    Coordinate with technical teams to define and document their tasking, distribute work across available resources, assess their technical progress, anticipate risks, and resolve issues

    Engage with customers at a programmatic and technical level to ensure alignment between expectations and execution, while advocating plans and positions as necessary to best meet technical objectives within scope

    Generating regular program summary and status briefs with Group and Division Leadership

    Creating Subcontractor statements of work and manage/track Subcontractors to ensure proper execution

    Create and maintain an environment that fosters collaboration by giving clear direction and constructive feedback to the team


    Who you Are:
    Ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance, for which U.S. citizenship is needed by the U.S. Government

    MS or BS degree with technical and/or management background

    Demonstrated relevant experience in project control or program management with experience in Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) decomposition, resource management, and financial analysis and reporting (5+ years for MS, 8+ years for BS)

    Familiarity and proficiency with program management execution and reporting tools and standards


    Nice to Haves:
    Management experience in research & development (R&D) programs (non-acquisition), preferably exceeding $10M for the Department of Defense and/or Intelligence Community

    Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications including but not limited to MS Project, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

    Leadership sufficient to support STR identification and development of internal project management tools
