Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit:

WUNC Radio provides quality news, information and entertainment programming to a broad listening audience that includes North Carolina, the United States and the world. WUNC serves North Carolinians from Greensboro to the Outer Banks through a network of seven stations, with a weekly cume of 400,000 listeners.

Position Summary:

The Operations and Traffic Technical Producer reports to the Program Director. The person in this position will make important decisions and implement strategy that affects listeners'' experience, handle distribution logistics required to put network and locally produced programs on the air. This may include the creation and maintenance of automation scripts, writing promo copy, populating announcer breaks with scheduled underwriting announcements, forward promotes and station promotion. This person will be required to quickly diagnose and solve an array of broadcast problems as they arise. In addition, this person is often called in for program emergencies and hosting duties as assigned. Finally, the person in this position will voice, edit and produce program transitions and spots for station programming automation.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent); for candidates demonstrating comparable independent research productivity or comparable background in independent academic or instructional activities, will accept a relevant Bachelor's degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and 3 or more years of relevant experience in substitution. This experience may be related to the direction/oversight of programs that focus the academic and research resources of a higher education institution towards community or regional issues.

Experience with traffic production/programming

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:

Experience in radio broadcasting strongly preferred
* Public Radio experience preferred
* Demonstrated experience with voice-tracking and on-air announcing
* Experience editing audio for broadcast
* Experience with automation software for broadcast
* Experience maintaining operator's log
* Familiarity with FCC standards regarding programming and underwriting
