Built on a legacy of quality and innovation, we are seeking a Computer Information Systems (CIS) Intern to join our team and support our continued growth. This position reports to the Director of Enterprise Business Systems and will work in our Katy, Texas office.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
The CIS Intern will support the team by building clean datasets, performing exploratory data analysis, and developing simple machine learning models (e.g., classification/regression) to generate insights for business users mostly on EDI Data failures, TRIP failures etc.
Projects
Analyze EDI transaction and TRIP failure data to identify recurring error patterns, root causes, and high-impact trading partners/doc types.
Build a simple Power BI dashboard + Python-based trend analysis to track failure rates, aging, and resolution time, and recommend actions to reduce failures and improve throughput.
Deliverables:

• Analytics dataset + documentation: a curated, reusable dataset (with data dictionary) for [topic: sales, service, inventory, ecommerce, operations].
• Python analytics notebook + KPI story: EDA + trends + key drivers with clear visuals.
• Simple ML model + evaluation: baseline model, metrics, and explanation (feature importance / key drivers).
• Business-ready output: a dashboard/report or a concise insight deck + recommendations.
  (Intern presents final project in August showcase.)
• Process improvement (reduce manual reporting effort) and/or improved decision-making through clearer insights.
General Responsibilities
• Gather requirements from stakeholders and translate into clear questions / KPIs.
• Pull, clean, and validate data from approved sources, document assumptions.
• Build Python-based analytics (pandas, numpy) and simple ML prototypes (scikit-learn).
• Summarize findings in an easy-to-understand format for non-technical users.

The ideal candidate for this role shall have the following qualification and experiences:
• Must be a current student or recent graduate of a university or college. Minimum of a rising sophomore level.
• Coursework related to the internship role (CIS, MIS, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or similar)
To be successful in this role, we believe that you possess the following skills, competencies & characteristics:
• Technical: Python basics, data analysis, comfort with spreadsheets; ML familiarity a plus. (Template notes "basic proficiency in tools/software relevant to role.")
• Soft skills: communication, teamwork, problem-solving, adaptability.
