    FINANCE ASSOCIATE 1 - PAYROLL

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • At least two years of payroll, benefits, and/or accounting experience required.
    • Demonstrates strong computer skills. Experience with Kronos/UKG and/or BusinessPlus preferred.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office software applications, with emphasis on knowledge and skills in Microsoft Excel.
    • Experience working in an educational setting preferred.
    • Any combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to the completion of a high school diploma.
    • Excellent attention to detail.
    • Possesses excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
    • Demonstrates effective human relations and communication skills.
    • Possesses the knowledge, skills, abilities, and physical attributes necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
    • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate or acceptable.
    REPORTS TO: Director of Payroll

    JOB GOAL: To ensure that employees are paid accurately and timely based on the payroll schedule, to ensure that employees' benefits deductions, contributions, and enrollments accurately reflect their elections, and to provide outstanding customer service to all district employees.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Maintains strict confidentiality in all matters pertaining to payroll, benefits, and absences. Holds conversations in a manner that respects privacy.
    • Performs general tasks required for issuing timely and accurate paychecks.
    • Handles entries and changes for payroll taxes, retirement, direct deposits, and/or other payroll-related items.
    • Enters and balances timecard adjustments and manual pay requests as needed.
    • Completes employment verification forms and wage statements.
    • Audits payroll and benefits entries for accuracy.
    • May assist with leave requests and related follow-up and documentation.
    • Knowledge of HR/Payroll software applications (e.g. BusinessPlus, Kronos/UKG, TalentEd).
    • Knowledge of PSRS & PEERS requirements and procedures.
    • Knowledge of payroll and benefits regulations and policies.
    • Greets all internal and external customers in a pleasant and respectful manner and responds to inquiries in a timely manner.
    • May require the analysis of facts and circumstances to conclude and make recommendations for solving administrative problems within the limits of standard or accepted practice.
    • May have duties and responsibilities involving knowledge and application of district policies and procedures that require independent judgment to determine the appropriate course(s) of action.
    • Maintains current and historical files, records, and documentation in an organized and secure manner.
    • Acts independently to perform many day-to-day job functions with little or no supervision.
    • Regular and consistent attendance is an essential function of this position.
    • Adheres to good safety practices.
    • Complies with all district rules, regulations, and policies.
    • Performs other duties as required or assigned.
    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve month position. Salary and work calendar to be established by the Board of Education. Benefits according to Board policies.

    EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluations utilizing the Performance Based Support Staff Evaluation process.
