JOB SUMMARYThe manufacturing engineer is responsible for establishing and improving manufacturing methods, providing support to manufacturing departments, and improving quality and reducing costs in manufacturing.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Design using SolidWorks and produce tooling and fixtures for manufacturing testingPrepare CNC programs for a variety of production machinesUtilize CAD/CAM packageEstablish and define processes, provide setup information, and process informationDetail tooling listsFacilitate and update CNC program, information, and any other changes associated with manufacturing processesSupport and trail for machining and other manufacturing operationsSupport problem solving for manufacturing operationsCreate product routings, manufacturing methods, quality forms, and operation process sketches as necessaryProvide continuous manufacturing and cost improvementsImplement process control techniquesPurchase and facilitate supplies necessary for manufacturingInvestigate or resolve operational problems, such as material use variances or bottlenecksPrepare documentation for new manufacturing processes or engineer processesProvide technical expertise or support related to manufacturingAbility to apply leadership skills for future department growthFollow safety rules and keep clean/ orderly work areaPerform other duties as required or assigned

Education / ExperienceBachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering (or similar areas of study)2 years in a related fieldExperience using SolidWorks and CAD programsOrMinimum of 3 years of engineering experience or manufacturing technician5 years of prior machining experienceLicenses, Permits, and CertificationsNoneKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesExperience in CNC programmingKnowledge of SolidWorksKnowledge of machining and the machining industryBasic understanding of quality principles and inspection techniquesKnowledge of CAD and CAM systemsKnowledge of personal computersCreative thinking skillsAbility to have attention to detailAbility to communicate well to other members of the teamAbility to work with independently and with other members of the teamKnowledge of hand and power toolsAbility to follow work instructions accuratelyAbility to do accurate work at a rapid paceAbility to multi-taskAbility to proficiently read and write in EnglishAbility to follow all safety rulesKnowledge of machine operations on an intermediate levelAbility to read and understand a blueprint, tolerance, and draft symbolsAbility to write programsAbility to do machining problem solvingAbility to solve tooling issuesPHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
