- Welcomes visitors, patients and staff members in person or via telephone.
- Communication duties include answering telephones, emails and intercom pages.
- Provides information by answering questions and requests.
- Assists patients by responding to call lights and phone calls; obtaining needed information and services from nursing staff, physicians and other hospital personnel.
- Accurately inputs Physicians orders.
- Establishes patient records by preparing folders, charts and packets.
- Completes admissions and discharge paperwork to ensure proper documentation of patient activities.
- Duties may at times include interviewing patients, preparing standard registration forms, and performing other admission, discharge and transfer related tasks.
- Maintains patient confidentiality and protects hospital operations by keeping personal health information of patients confidential.
- Maintains proper paperwork in charts, assuring the correct patient info goes in the correct chart.
- Maintains unit supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing orders for supplies and verifying deliveries.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Performs a variety of tasks and other duties as assigned.
- Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have current BLS certification if working in CNA capacity and maintain current status throughout GRHD employment.
- Minimum of two years of related experience in a health care setting preferred.
- Active Colorado CNA certification preferred.

POSITION TITLE: Unit ClerkDEPARTMENT: Med Surg
REPORTS TO: Med Surg Director
This is an "as needed" shift (PRN)
BASIC FUNCTION: The Unit Clerk at Grand River Hospital District serves as a cooperative member of a functioning team within the Med/Surg Department. Their main function includes a variety of clerical tasks related to patient admission and discharge processes. The Unit Clerk maintains Med/Surg Department operations by following policies and procedures and reporting needed changes.
