- Handle walk-in customers and counter sales with a focus on delivering exceptional customer service.
- Process orders, make quotations on standard items, and relay pertinent information to customers.
- Coordinate with other departments to handle purchase orders and provide value-added services to customers.
- Receive requests for product selection, price quotations, purchase orders, order changes, adjustments, and cancellations directly from customers.
- Achieve and maintain rapport with customers, ensuring the provision of the best possible customer service.
- Utilize software to retrieve customer information, stock status information, purchase order status, and make changes to customer purchase orders.
- Use correct sales category and location information for new inventory item setup.
- Perform regular "cycle counting" of stock inventory and assist in physical counts of inventory.
- Frequently research part numbers and specifications in company and vendor catalogs.
- Operate the retail counter by handling walk-in cash, credit card sales, and customer accounts.
- Check-in merchandise and verify incoming materials against the packing list to ensure accuracy.
- Look up and compute inbound freight costs to be added to customer orders in the software system.
- Assemble customer orders according to the packing list by pulling parts from warehouse shelving and placing them in the appropriate area for customer pickup.
- Quality check orders to ensure correct items are processed and package customer orders in the best way possible to prevent damage or loss during delivery.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including maintaining aisle ways, keeping warehouse stock neat and orderly, and removing trash and recycling to the appropriate dumpster.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in retail sales, customer service, or warehouse operations preferred.
- Knowledge of seals, O-rings, or related products is a plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in using measuring devices such as tape measures, cones, slides, and calipers.
- Basic math skills for processing sales transactions and measuring products accurately.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
