    RESPONSIBLE FOR:

    Coordinates the delivery of quality nursingcare for patients from birth through the lifecycle, as well asoperational issues during his/her shift.

    Provides clinical care asneeded when census demands. Communicates patient care, departmentalissues, and staff concerns to the appropriate leader(s). Serves asresource for guidance and assistance to thestaff.


    KEYRESPONSIBILITIES:


    • Coordinates deliveryof quality nursing care to include facilitating patient flow incoordination with Bed Control, Patient Access, or AdministrativeSupervisor to include triage, admissions, discharges, andtransfers.
    • Monitors patient care delivery, to includeappropriate implementation of protocol, administration ofmedications, and treatment modalities.
    • Communicatespatient flow/patient care issues to appropriate physician and/orclinical manager.
    • Coordinates issues of diversion, asappropriate.
    • Coordinates equitable distribution ofstaff assignments based on skill mix, staffing levels, patientdiagnosis, volume, and acuity. Adjusts assignments as needed duringthe shift.
    • Fairly and equitably administersdepartmental and hospital policies.
    • Assists theclinical manager, as necessary, to ensure appropriate staffinglevels and most efficient use of staffing plan.
    • Monitors census and appropriately anticipates the need to assumeclinical role as needed.
    • Maintains a high level ofclinical competency in administering nursing care to includeaccurate determination of patients acuity and Implementsappropriate medical response to include use ofprotocols/policies/pathways.
    • Promptly reports issuesthat cannot be resolved during the shift to clinical manager, withsuggestions for resolution.
    • Ensures that system issuesinvolving other departments, that can cause decreased quality ofcare or productivity, are reported to the clinicalmanager.
    • Promotes customer satisfaction by respondingto service issues in a timely and effective manner.
    • Serves as a resource and a role model for the nursing and ancillarystaff on the assignedunit.

    Qualifications:

    MINIMUMEDUCATION REQUIRED:


    Graduate of a nursingprogram.

    MINIMUM EXPERIENCEREQUIRED:


    One year of nursing experience in ahospital setting required.

    MINIMUMLICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:


    CurrentLicense in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLCMultistate License. BLS certificationrequired.

    ADDITIONALQUALIFICATIONS:


    Two or more years of nursingexperience in a hospital setting preferred. Bachelor's degreepreferred. Advanced certification in field of specialty, ifapplicable. Demonstrated clinicalcompetency.


    Additional RequiredCertifications:

    ACLS Certification - (NurseResidents or nurses new to specialty will complete applicablecertifications within 6 months of start date)
