    This position is for the University of New Mexico-Gallup Branch located in Gallup, NM, approximately 138 miles west of Albuquerque, NM.


    The University of New Mexico-Gallup invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Psychology (open specialization) to begin in August 2024.

    We are one of four branch community colleges of the University of New Mexico and serve approximately 2,200 students.

    Located in Gallup NM, approximately 138 miles west of Albuquerque, UNM-Gallup is situated in the Four Corners region and near the Navajo Nation, Zuni Pueblo and Hopi Reservation.

    The city of Gallup has a population of 22,000 and the surrounding areas provide an abundance of outdoor recreational activities, various museums and extraordinary cultural vibrancy, while maintaining a small-town feel.

    UNM-Gallup serves a hugely diverse student population with 100+ full time and part-time faculty members.

    We are fully accredited by the Higher Learning Commission offering Associate degrees, selected Bachelor's degrees, Career Technical Education certificate programs, and adult basic education (ABE/GED), workforce training and personal enrichment courses.

    UNM-Gallup serves multiple high school populations including McKinley Academy, Middle College High School and the Center for Career and Technical Education.

    Assistant Professors at UNM-G have career advancement opportunities that are outlined in the UNM Faculty Handbook and faculty union collective bargaining agreement.


    The successful candidate will be expected to teach 24 credits per academic years in the area of Psychology (4 courses in both the spring and fall semesters, or equivalent), maintain an active scholarship/service record (as defined by the UA-UNM CBA), participate in monthly Division meetings and execute other relevant duties as agreed upon in conjunction with the division chair in an annual faculty-chair agreement.

    In addition, the selected candidate will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through actively practicing inclusive behavior and proactively managing bias.

    Qualifications


    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Psy.
    D or Ph.
    D in Psychology (ABD will be considered if degree will be completed by date of appointment)


    Preferred Qualifications:

    • College-level teaching experience, preferably at a Community College
    • Demonstrated experience working with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population
    • Demonstrated experience working with first-generation college students
    • Experience teaching remote or asynchronous online courses using a learning management system
